A hard movie to describe but it’s kind of like if you were home sick, pounding down cold medicine, and then you watched a documentary on a Swedish commune, immediately followed by the Wicker Man. Then after all that, you take some shrooms, and you have this crazy little slice of folk horror.

It didn’t have the same impact on me that Hereditary did, but I was interested throughout the whole 2 and 1/2 runtime and the movie looks gorgeous. Also, interestingly, there was way more comedy than I expected in this.

I’ll be very curious to see what Ari Aster does next.

If you just swap out the 80s tech, and replace it with all the multitude of screens and technologies we have today, this is all still perfectly applicable. The idea of the virtual world being more real than the real world seems even more relevant today than ever.

Cronenberg has always been ahead of his time, even by casting James Woods as a slimy bastard 35 years ago.

The movie is so strange and yet so hypnotic, and always draws me into all it's weirdness. This has to be my favorite Cronenberg film (even though the Fly is a close second.)

    Long live the new flesh.

One of the most insanely bad and pointless movies I’ve ever seen. I legitimately had no idea what was happening or why.

It only gets 1 star for the truly bonkers Nic Cage performance. That man is a gift.

Funny enough, this cost the same amount to buy as to rent through Amazon prime, so now I own this piece of shit. Oh and to add insult to injury, it’s only in standard definition haha.

An awesome creature feature meets natural disaster flick. It’s lean and mean at only 87 minutes and pretty much executes it’s premise as well you could ask for. Also, huge kudos to Alexandre Aja for pulling this thing off. The movie really comes down to his direction for making this as fun and as tense as it was.

I don’t think anyone is more surprised than me that I’m giving this 4 stars, but I kind of loved it.

Annabelle herself has never been particularly that interesting, so the movie does the smart thing and uses everything else around her for a bunch of fun, tense, and creative scare set pieces. We’ve got killer brides, werewolves, a spooky ferryman, and a ghost samurai.
    Yeah, I’m on board.

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga have basically glorified cameos, but it’s…

I will always sound the horn for this underrated gem. After years of bad and underwhelming video game movies, I went to go see this in a theater in 2006 with low expectations and was blown away. Silent Hill looked great, managed to capture the feel of the games pretty well, and went to some really dark places. People get their skin ripped off, people are burned alive, and barbed wire goes places it should never go. It’s got some…
