Poor Things 2023
Idk, man. Took me two days to get through it, so that's not a great sign. There were moments I became invested but they were sporadic and the first one didn't happen until about an hour in. I'm admittedly biased because I'm meh on the acting chops of the two main cast members, but a lot of this just left me totally flat. Parts of it reminded me a bit of Babylon in the way so much of the humor…

The Passion of Joan of Arc 1928
One of those “oh so this is why this is so revered” experiences. Just incredibly crafted and performed.

Walk on the Wild Side 1962
Great performances, great wardrobes, and maybe my favorite opening credits sequence ever. Barbara Stanwyck is so evil here, but she's so magnetic it's CRAZY. Obviously lots of (barely) subtextual stuff happening in this that was a huge deal for an early 60s movie, and it's almost entirely women-led, story-wise. Really captivating movie to watch.
