Octavia Spencer was AMAZING but I mean that's a given. She played crazy so well and she was by far the best thing about this film. The storyline IMO was extremely drawn out for the fact that it's a pretty predictable storyline. The last half hour got dark but in a good horror way. Overall I'm glad I rented this off redbox. Maybe it'll grow on me.
Having read the book this movie for the most part was exactly what I expected. For a PG13 prehistoric shark film I thought the characters were likeable and the acting was decent for the most. I will say being that I'm not a big fan of CGI I was lucky enough to see it in 3D and I feel like that always makes the CGI look better. Overall this is a fun no brainer shark movie and it doesn't pretend to be anything else.
Going in I expected this movie to be more slow paced but extremely eerie. Similar to the 1980s horror movie The Changeling. Instead I got CGI jump scares, possessed child w basic white out eyes and ppl getting thrown across the room. The movie isn't all bad it has a genuine creepy moment or two and Helen as Sarah Winchester was great. The house (even though not the actual house) was made to look cool. But that's about it.
