Would recommend this one for sure. It's a very different take on working class 80s Britain than we're used to, deliberately subverting the 'gritty' social realism plots we're so used to from predominantly white, male directors with more than a generous splash of Bollywood cheesiness and colourful visuals. I was really confused when I couldn't find this in the recent films section because I watched it in the cinema last week (without knowing anything about it), but upon seeing that this is a re-edited late release, it helps explain to me why this film felt quite so - for want of less harsh phrasing - dead on arrival.
