Rope ★★★★½

A movie that is more than a little thin, in terms of logically laying out the reasoning for "superior" people to kill "inferior" people at will, and how the two murderers connect their motives to the James Stewart character. BUT, I go way, way back with Rope and I basically have every line memorized, every camera move memorized, every blinking light on the background cityscape matte painting memorized. It really comes down to that gradual sunset outside the window. It's the ultimate comfort to me. This and Rear Window just invite me inside with detailed apartment life and cold-blooded murder.
