Live action short film from Jossie Malis, the animation mastermind behind the Bendito Time Machine series. .sub is a very innovative, satiric look at the institutionalized experience of immigrants. The film is able to look at so many different aspects ranging from the Kafkaesque to the exceedingly banal - but there's real stakes here. The vulnerability of the immigrant is so well conveyed here - very impressive. If I had a nitpick, I don't think the music fits, buts that's really small. This is a great mix of social realism with a meta bite.
I wish he made more short films.
