    The Farewell

Honestly, I'm split as to how I should rate this film.

The film is well shot, the use of China as a backdrop was nice to look at, the story has interesting elements to it that make it fairly engaging and the acting is pretty good across the board.

But where the film loses me is with the lack of real dramatic weight. The film is about this elderly woman who has cancer and has 3 months to live, but…

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

I think if the story was tighter and not as simplistic as it was, then I think this could've been a 9/10 or 10/10. Not to say that loose, simplistic stories can't be perfected since The Big Lebowski and Burn After Reading proves that they can be. But this didn't quite execute it as well as it could've in that regard.

That said, this is still an endlessly entertaining film that does not feel 2 hr 40 mins despite what…

    Killing Them Softly

Man, of the two films that has been given a F grade from CinemaScore, it has convinced me that people put way too much legitimacy on CinemaScore. Like, okay, it’s a good indicator for whether or not something is gonna be successful at the box office since, well, audience reaction does influence that kind of thing. But, for some reason, and I’ve seen this happen more frequently in recent years, people act as though it’s some kind of end all,…

I think if this was 90 minutes long and consisted of the best segments from this film, then I think this would either be a 9/10 or 10/10.

But regardless, Kurosawa’s use of color is as striking as his use of black and white. It honestly makes me convinces that his use of color was always great and it’s the reason why we got some of the most interesting and esthetically beautiful hues ever captured in black and white cinema.…

This is reflective of Season 1 (not miniseries, Season 1 since they announced that it was coming back)

I really enjoyed the themes and concepts that this show attempted to tackle regarding divorce, grief and trauma and learning to adapt to a life where all that factors into it. It works great when it lands. But there’s a number of times where it doesn’t quite land the way that it should’ve for it to make for an emotionally satisfying dramatic…

    Toy Story 4

    Uuuuuuuuuggggggggghhhhhhhh God.

This didn’t need to be made. This story literally serves no function in the story told in the first 3 films. Characters now suddenly face issues and conflicts that not only have been proven through their past actions to not be issues before, they completely contradict everything that has been established in the narrative of the first 3 films.

    And the ending.

    My god.

    I fucking hated the ending.

Ok, let me clarify. I like the idea behind…
