    High Life

A film in a similar vein as this is Denis Villeneave's "Enemy". Both try to push the boundaries with a unique erotic-like thriller. Where "Enemy" succeeds "High Life" fails hard. Everything in "High Life" feels detached and unapproachable. That seems to be the goal, but unlike in "We need to talk about Kevin" where the characters, mainly Tilda Swinton, were cold I still felt deeply attached to them. Truly one of the greatest action movies ever and one of the strongest overall films of this year- Mission: Impossible- Fallout manages to do the unthinkable. This is the sixth and best film in the series. Cavill is a major upgrade from Renner. So great. It manages to balance tremendous set pieces and high level espionage with great skill. I love how they flawlessly tie in Michelle Monaghan. They give her and Cruise closure on their relationship. The halo jump, car chase scenes, bathroom fight scene , and end helicopter sequence are just a few of jaw dropping set pieces in this great film.

First off, I should say that people were talking all around and someone directly behind me was kicking my chair and laughing out of pure terror for the whole film so my experience was slightly ruined. The central cast is legitimately great. Collette is a star here. Shapiro is only in the movie for a little bit, but she is truly haunting. The scene where she dies is one of the most shocking scenes in recent cinema history. Byrne plays…
