Maybe the Godzilla fatigue has kicked in but this was just ... fine? The script seems a bit obnoxious. Can't tell if I can fault the dialogue on translation issues either. Godzilla's a bit of a dick, like the guy who ghosts you and then proceeds to haunt you. I might check out the other Mothra movies after this because I do love her.
And I thought Biollante was excessive?? This was extremely goofy and it works, mostly. Felt like I was watching old school Star Trek (before it got all Terminator-y?). So many things are happening! It’s hard to buy the story but if you let it wash over you, it’s a fun time. Time travel always seems like a cop-out move to me so ultimately it doesn’t do much for the overarching narrative. Entertaining, albeit a little tiresome, it manages to stick the landing. King Ghidorah looked great for the 90s.
Hannah Gadsby has sold out theatres with Nanette.
The one time I saw her perform, I was front row at a trial run held before she took the show on tour. It was very small. Very intimate.
She talks about jokes on a basic level: 1) build up a tension 2) diffuse it with a punchline. She talks a lot about tension and you feel it because it's true. She talks about how she feels about men, not hating them…
