John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

In my most recent review of John Wick: Chapter 2 I had mentioned that the best parts of its predecessor were dialed up to 11 in the sequel. In Parabellum, everything from the second film is on steroids and PCP at the same time.

The action is even more bold, loud and impressively choreographed. The neo-noir style with heavy lighting contrast is still a key element, and the settings are even more awesome this time around.

    I will say that…

    Avengers: Endgame

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Infinity War may have been the most ambitious crossover, but Endgame is certainly one of the most ambitious movies of all time and its finale is perfect.

Endgame pays homage to past MCU films brilliantly, and there are some beautifully captured moments that put a big ole’ smile on my face, especially towards the end. Admittedly, there were quite a few deus ex machinas that allowed certain events to continue to occur, but I still sometimes forget that these are…

    Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Mildly funny at times but overall one of the most average movies I’ve ever watched.

Everything that worked in the first movie is dialed up to 11 in John Wick: Chapter 2. The settings are incredible and the cinematography complements the action very well, as does the score which was noticeably better in the sequel.

Obviously the kills had to be better and more creative, as they are, in order for the film to really be successful. I will say that, as…

    First Man

Truly a stunning film and another cinematic masterpiece from Damien Chazelle making him 3/3 to start off a brilliant directing career.

The hype is absolutely real for First Man, there are so many elements that come together to make the movie what it is: Shaky cams inside the spacecrafts kept me tense during each test run and mission, the cinematography and sound production were both mesmerizing, and the score continued to get stronger until the third act when it reached…

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Jeremy Renner going “holy fuck” before the first interaction between humans and heptapods is me after watching Arrival for the first time.
The screenplay, with writing from Eric Heisserer based on the novella “Story of Your Life,” was incredibly well-done.
Denis Villeneuve continues to impress me with his ability to tell a story thru marvelous directing. While the movie starts off fairly slow, I was amazed at how immersed into the story I became as the movie progressed. Even with…
