I’ll be perfectly honest, when this started I didn’t think I would be able to stick with it. The initial slow pace didn’t sit with me well, but I’m so glad I stuck with it, because it really was worth it.
Despite it’s meandering, slow pace, this film really has a lot to say about relationships and the effect that time can have not just on relationships but on people, and I just feel that the film as a whole communicated it’s themes really well in a way that didn’t feel sentimental for the sake of being sentimental, and I really think the film is all the more impactful because of this. Some great cinematography here too.
If films with slow pacing put you off, definitely give this one a chance, because it really is worth it in the end. Definitely worth a watch, and I’m really looking forward to seeing more from Haigh.
