You know who won, but not how. Arresting look behind the scenes of the 'Leave' campaign, from the Brexit referendum, and how they used social media data, micro targeted ads, and straight up lies to win an insurgent victory. Cumberbatch has played chatacters like Dominic Cummings - the iconoclastic savant who designs the 'Leave' strategy - before, and could probably do it in his sleep, but he still does it very well. The film skimps on his motivation, and some of the smaller roles are played very broad, but there is a lot to get through; the opening credits gives you the entire history of the EU, in about one minute. Interesting, infuriating, alarming.
