Really not good. Lots of weird shot choices and poor acting performances from the leads. KB only had a few lines at the beginning which didn't help either. Ending saves this from being entirely terrible.
We're getting to the end of the Kristen Bell marathon now. Got 4 or 5 left to get through and I'm hoping for at least one hidden gem. These movies are getting really hard to find as well. Wish me luck
After a fast-paced start, I had high hopes for Deepwater. Peter Coyote does a good job as the jovial crook and Lucas Black is likeable enough as the main character.
However, as soon as the two reach the small town where the rest of the film will take place (around 15 minutes into the movie), Deepwater slows its pace considerably. It does enough to keep you vaguely interested, but you start wishing that a lot more would be happening. The boxing match between the two main characters, which seems to be the goal that the film is working towards, never feels like it would be a worthwhile climax.
The actual ending is pretty decent and comes up with a plot…
