Snoozy Canadian thriller. On paper it sounds great, with Anthony Perkins as a baddie involved in an unsolved murder, but drifts aimlessly most of the time.
Perkins is great though, easily the best thing about this movie. There are a few attempts to recreate Hitchcockian camera angles involving Perkins that I liked.
Apparently the SCTV studios doubled as the casting offices for this movie, the following all have tiny roles: John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Dave Thomas and Joe Flaherty.
Quite starry by Canadian terms, but mostly a bit dull and inert for what should be neo-noir. Still, Perkins is enjoying himself hugely and casting all of SCTV in bit parts is a nice, if unusual, idea
tonys voice doesnt sound like his voice at all in this movie im so confused he was trying to do an accent or a frat boy impression or smthn
Based on Three Roads by Ross Macdonald but fairly unrecognizable. Too bad they didn't stick closer to the book because the cast is first rate.
Ross Macdonald utolsó bűnügyi regénye az Archer-széria előtt precízen illeszkedik a 40-es évek végi amnézia-noir trendbe, főszerepben egy légnyomásos veteránnal, aki emlékei útvesztőjében bolyongva keresi ribanc nejének gyilkosát: a 30 éves késéssel készült, modernizált adaptáció igyekszik követni a sztorit, ám pont a legfőbb érdemet hagyja ki belőle, az Ödipusz-konfliktusra gondosan felépített komplex szimbolikát - azért a zárlat még így is épp olyan szép, mint a könyvben.
Someone manages to waste most of the SCTV cast in tiny parts despite being the sort of film so dreadful you expect Johnny Larue to star.
Astoundingly dull thriller.
TV level material and acting with a surprisingly good cast of supporting players. Misleading advertising is also evident with Candy and Perkins made prominent while Candy is barely in it Perkins is at least a named character with a bearing on the plot.
