Part 1 of my Hoop-Tober Challenge!
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers is one of the greatest Halloween slideshows that you'll ever see. Its atmosphere, filled with devious blues and hysterical oranges, is nothing less than gorgeously tangible and alive. However, the rest of this Halloween installment is as expected. It's a solid slasher with goofy dialogue, flat direction, and ludicrous death scenes. In particular, an electrician gets thrown by Michael Myers onto some sort of power generator/grid, and as a result, it causes a massive outage.
Hilarious moments like this would soon become a staple for the crumbling Halloween franchise, but Halloween 4 still roams Haddonfield with eerie mood and eventual horror. I always enjoy sitting down with a bowl of popcorn and soaking up the feeling of this sequel, and I can say with confidence that the season of Halloween has truly begun.
