There's a lot they could've done with Halloween 4, and they do touch on it, but ultimately settle on treading the same beats as the first which is a huge let down. Whatever they add to the series, it's all muted in favour of being a bland, yet infinitely more idiotic retread of part 1.
The stuff they touch on however is infinitely more interesting, with Pleasence now in full off chops crazy mode, and the town treating Myers as something of a local celebrity. Then there's a bunch of random drunk fucks going around shooting innocent people and remaining utterly unbothered. So it's a bad movie, but it's utterly entertaining.
I love the newest iteration of the Halloween series, but there's some gold Blumhouse could spin from the lunacy from the Halloween sequels. Make a silly horror franchise about a crazy professor chasing cults and an undead killer. Brian Cox would be up for it. Get on it Blum.
