Girlfriend found a childhood VHS copy that turned out to be the screener copy from the video store. Imagine that’s the only copy the store ever got, couldn’t have imagined many kids wanted to rent this. Spent most of the film trying to map out the production schedule because clearly they only got Malcom McDowell for a day.
there are only 5 reviews for this movie on LB, so by the time Max and I log ours, 29% of all reviews will be for the Doubled Feature podcast. thought influencers
My mom bought an advanced screener copy of this from a thrift store back in the 90s. To this day, I have no idea why she bought it.
I haven’t tried rewatching this since I was a kid, but it looms large in my memory. I caught it on TV a few times growing up and was always pleased. I mostly remember the kids playing on their fort with their fake armor, and the main boy talking to Malcolm McDowell and playing with a really cool looking Excalibur in his room. Also the bully who’s being abused by his dad and comes around when shown some understanding. The last act has some big Home Alone type plot that felt like it happened just to make something happen. I think even as a kid I knew it was a pretty dumb movie, but I really loved it too.
