I'm of the opinion that 3h long film about Nuremberg trial doesn't really need a fucking romantic subplot.
Who knew Logan Roy was actually Herman Goering this whole time cause they are literally the same character
An ensemble cast with immense gravitas. Considering this was made for TV, the 3 hour production value is incredible and has so much prescience for the modern era. Horrifying that some of the Nazi regime were so blind to what they were complicit in, to the end.
Cox, Baldwin, Plummer absolutely own the floor when they speak in this. Well worth a watch.
More then a film this is a perfect documentary of the Nuremberg trial. Here are shown perfectly the events happened in that trial that brought to the death sentence of some of the higher members of the nazi party. What I liked more of this movie is that does not just stop in listing the events but even shows the reasons (political and psychological) that brought the nazi party to compute such orrible actions. The interrogation scene of the Auschwitz chief speaks by itself.
This is, of course, a very heavy and hard subject, which isn’t to be treated lightly. Therefore, I appreciate that they took their time and treated it with a lot of respect. Nonetheless, I thought it was a bit slow in the beginning. Also, I dislike the more “American” film drama cliches, like the romance part of the movie, and the “you can do it if you believe in yourself” part as well. Good movie (limited series but oh well), go watch it.
Some parts were really good, specifically the trial scenes, but the non courtroom scenes/any scene focusing on the American prosecutor felt wildly inappropriate in this movie it hurt.
"I shouldn't tell you this... but Hitler did not approve of hunting. He felt that killing animals was... immoral. He was a vegetarian."
Nuremberg is actually a 2 part miniseries which aired on TNT in 2000, each part is 90 minutes. It tells the story of the Trial of the Major War Criminals in Nuremberg in the wake of World War 2 and follows 2 sets of characters, Allies' legal team and the... defendants, Hermann Göring chief among them.
This is a near-perfect cinematic rendition of one of the last battles of World War 2, as it were where the tyrants who tried to dominate the globe are brought to justice.
Obviously this is similar to the masterful Stanley Kramer…
Good made for TV film about the Nuremberg trials; this film extends to about a four hours, and portrays the trial in a way that just seems out of place. What I mean by that, is that, instead of focusing on the historical aspect head on, the filmmakers tried to over saturate the film’s material, and therefore try to make it more dramatic than it needs to be. Considering that this is a made for TV production, it’s quite interesting and entertaining with good performances. However, the classic Judgement at Nuremberg s the definitive picture on the trial. I thought the film’s script lacked and despite its terrific subject, this is a forgettable made for TV drama that never realizes…
Excellent overview of the main philosopical and practical considerations surrounding the REAL trial of the 20th century.
Brian Cox won best actor at the Golden Globes for his performance as Herman Goering and it was deserved.
Briskly put together without missing much of substance or accuracy.
Aging dads have this terrifying power where they can make you watch a 3 hour TNT miniseries about the Nuremberg trials starring Alec Baldwin and Brian Cox just because you don’t call them enough.
