It’s great to see a calm, low stakes drama once in a while, I really liked that. But did it have to be an ad for old people? There’s a particularly shameless set of scenes where De Niro insists his directions are better than the millennial (and zennial, holding an iPad and presumably on google maps), and he’s fucking right about it. Don’t be fucking ridiculous. You’ll only encourage the olds. I could go on about how much this movie hates millennial men (fair enough) and technology (also fair I guess), but it would be just as silly as bringing those criticisms up in the first place.
Also it’s a real shame that De Niro himself didn’t age as gracefully as his character in this. A damn shame.
