While this may not be the best written war movie ever, it's still a very good movie.
It stars Audie L. Murphy, playing a younger version of himself. Audie Murphy is the most decorated combat soldier in the history of the U.S. Army. After leaving the Army, Audie went to Hollywood and became a western star. He also made this war movie about his own time in the Army during World War II as his unit left North Africa, battled up through Sicily, then up the western coast of Italy and finally into southern France, right up to the German border. The movie is based on Murphy's own book.
The movie obviously focuses on Murphy and the men in the platoon around him. Yes, the dialog can get a little silly at times but, that happens in real life too.
If you're a fan of War movies, I would highly recommend "To Hell And Back."
