"We are Americans."
Oh, fuck me, I am really ending my March with an actual, real horror film that fucks you up in every single way possible. Jordan Peele proves more than enough that he is not a one-hit wonder, but a budding horror connoisseur with a taste of ironic humor and subtle politically-charged theme thanks to his comedic background.
The best thing from Us is how the dual roles of every actor, particularly one Lupita Nyong'O, deliver such eerily familiar yet drastically different characters. Another best moment is how the narrative gives you layers and layers of interpretations, whether about the self-demonization in a religious context, immigration, an American truth, and so on, they fit right into the intended discussion Peele has directed.
My only gripe is the awkward moment when the Wilsons meet Josh and Kitty on the beach to hang out. It is just freaking uncomfortable but that's probably his intention too.
