I don’t really know what to give it. I’m between a 4 and a 4.5 for many reasons. But I think for now I’m going to have to go with a 4. I will wait until a rewatch to make any further adjustments to the rating.  I also think this is something meant to be watched with an audience, and not at midnight, alone, like I saw it.  I’m genuinely excited to watch it again, but with an audience.…

    Annabelle Comes Home

Just the presence of Ed and Lorraine at the starts fills the movie with a sense of false comfort because it makes you feel like the rest film will be in good hands. From the start, it begs you to think back and reflect on the good times you had watching The Conjuring films. Don’t be fooled, however. It is undoubtably closer in tone and craftsmanship to the spinoff films, rather than The Conjuring films.

    There’s poor writing, and awful…

At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about the film’s quiet, anticlimactic ending, but after reflecting on the film and the themes it presented over the course of its runtime, I’ve come to the conclusion that it could not have ended any other way.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

    First of all, WHAT.

Second of all, I can’t believe this was an actual movie.

    Third of all, WHAT??

Serenity is one of the most insane messes I’ve watched in a while. I have A LOT of random thoughts on this movie. I’ll be spewing incoherent thoughts in this review to pay homage to how incoherent and convoluted this film is.

The spoilers start down below, so feel free to read what’s above the line, though, I warn you now…

    First Man

Whiplash > La La Land > First Man > 80% of movies this year

Damien Chazelle does it again, this time making an intense, and often poignant film, about Neil Armstrong. I liked Gosling’s performance in this; however, I really liked Claire Foy’s performance, even though she was in it for less of the runtime.

I absolutely loved the choice to make this film as personal as possible, giving us plenty of grainy closeups of faces, keeping many of the shots as tight…
