    An entire soap opera in an 80 minute package, one so elegantly and so effortlessly done that I'm kinda in awe of how they managed to do this. The early technicolor (I assume) makes the whole movie look like a slightly faded photograph, one which has had its fair share in the light, but still has its beauty shine almost as brightly as it once had.     Similar to Lee Chang Dong's Green Fish in that while a very well received debut during its release, its since been, perhaps unfairly, overshadowed by the director's future work. Maybe it comes from the fact that it is the most "standard" of his movies, for lack of a better term. While here there are less of Tarkovsky's usual indulgences, there's still hints of the future direction his films would take, such as the multiple dream sequences and slow pans. Perhaps…
