One of those movies that screams desperation all over the place. There’s no redemption for any of the characters who seem doomed from the get-go. Makes you want to take a bath after watching it, with those German expressionist light schemes that sink you further into this hopeless tale.
This movie is love in a bottle and indubitably Tarantino’s less compromised work to date. With nothing to prove, the guy just handed the audience his greatest fantasy and a movie lover’s wet dream. Who cares about accuracy? Who cares about reality? A vision is there, it is compelling and it made me so happy throughout. So glad I had the honor of seeing it on a big screen with an audience.
Curious story but it’s just that. Pretty straight forward suspense flick with no exploration at all of what makes this story interesting, faking a hotel to get refugees across. The cast is charming but the way the story is told is just bland.
Of course, I might be completely wrong.
