Joe Voltoline’s review published on Letterboxd :
Amityville has always intrigued me, whether it be the real life murders, the Lutz family hoax, or the horror series. If there’s a new movie or documentary I’ll probably check it out. The Amityville Murders is a sort of remake of Amityville II: The Possession. Which was a prequel to the original Amityville Horror. It even features a small role by Burt Young, and Diane Franklin returns, now playing the mother of the Defao family. This film blends together fact and fiction making an interesting story. I liked the movie, didn’t love it. I think if the haunting stuff had been a little more subtle, and left it up to the viewer to decide what was happening, it would have made for a more interesting picture. It’s not a bad film, if this subject interests you, give it a try.
