Showed up to Cannes for this movie alone, Tarantino advised me to stay out of respect for the other film makers, but I failed to oblige—I couldn’t endure an entire day of extreme euphoria. Eventually I’ll see the other great films that I’m sure screened at the festival, but for now I need to sit back and contemplate the perfection that was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
If it were up to me, I’d give Rami Malek an Oscar right now for this mind blowing performance. The only way to portray a legend like Mercury is to cast an actor like Rami. How he carries himself, the way his eyes jump around a scene, his lip twitching and fidgeting—all micro details carefully calculated to portray what will be the most pleasing film to honor not only Freddie, but her majesty the Queen as a whole.
