    What a complete shock it is that so many people are gushing over this film. To me, this film was no different from the problematic natures of Crash and The Blind Side, in that is so dishonestly tells a white savior story in an unconvincing narrative where horrible people have changes of heart and made to be perceived as heroic by the end.

    Incredibly tense and unsettling. Toni Collette is astounding and definitely the film’s strongest aspect (that dinner table scene being the prime example).

    The first half is horror-perfection. The image of Charlie’s decapitated head covered with ants will forever haunt me.

    The second half didn’t quite keep up the tightly woven tension of the first half but was nonetheless strong. A few elements such as the dragged on ending, Alex Wolff’s acting and some moments that felt out-of-place with the horror…
