Arguably the most beautiful of Jean Renoir's filmography. A passionate look on India and its culture, wonderfully capturing the colors and the beauty of it. The coming-of-age story of a teen girl in a big English family does get quite melodramatic, but it keeps an innocence that is truly heartwarming. One of those films that almost makes you feel like you could touch what is on screen, and that respects the culture it's portraying with plenty of earnestness.
