Mary Magdalene ★★★★

Criminaly underappreciated in an age where mediocrity is glorified, it is simply unfair that this film hasn't receieved the attention it deserves. This is probably one of the most nuanced and heartfelt portrayals of faith ever committed to screen... the sheer craft in every frame, immaculate cinematography, depth of performance, impeccable casting and sensitivity of vision make this a meditative experience that is a better depiction of Christ's pain and frustration, and Mary's courage and bravery than any 'faith-based' film, including The Passion of The Christ.

But of course, like Jesus himself... its destined to be misunderstood, misinterpreted and sentenced to death by critics, religious pundits and those who prefer to follow the trends.
