    Blinded by the Light

There is so much hate in the world, along with bigotry and a rampant lack of empathy for the big scary "OTHER." Sometimes it's easy to get overwhelmed by what's going on in the world. But then a sweet & charming movie like Blinded by the Light comes along and reminds you of what you live for and gives you hope. Aside from some really childish jokes and cheesy stereotypes, I enjoyed this. It's very cute and made me chuckle a few times. I never watched the show, so I didn't have nostalgia to work either in my favor or against it. I really liked Dora's character and the fact that she was unafraid of being herself. Very admirable along with the intelligence. Nicely done.

Pretty aimless and weird. What was going on with the color grading here? I think this had potential, but it really didn't know what it was doing. Maybe a few rewrites would have benefitted this. And as most have noted, the southern accents were pretty bad. Y'all tried.

Normally, I don't like films with characters like our leads in this film, i.e. bratty teens who think they're cool just because they're edgy and rebellious (see my review for Never Goin' Back). But somehow, it worked here. This film was pretty fun and entertaining. Even though I'm not a horror junkie, I did catch some fun references to other horror films. If you like more lighthearted horror films, check this one out.
