Koji Shiraishi's films
Was skeptical about Occult - but it definitely contains a big flying Shoggoth, and while I'm usually quite skeptical about calling something Lovecraftian just because of how it "feels," I can't think of many other horror films that so successfully create such a pervasive sense of dread, and of the ultimate folly of human endeavor.
