There are many timeless comedic moments, but the film is also the most politically motivated satire ever made; even Blazing Saddles seems comparably safe. It's possibly our prime evidence that literally anything can be funny if it is done with intelligence, which makes The Great Dictator a bit difficult to talk about as a two hour experience. It transcends the medium as much as any film has.
