haven’t seen this one in a while, but it’s still incredible. i honestly like it more with each rewatch.

    Paddington 2

i only caught the last half of it, but i already love it, and i don’t expect to be let down when i come back to it later.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules

this is unironically really good. by no means perfect, but i love it, and art is subjective amirite?

  • The Help

    The Help

overall a little formulaic, but it’s elevated by an incredible cast that all give really great performances.

  • Spider-Man: Homecoming

    Spider-Man: Homecoming

i hope no one reads this because the spider-man fan base is scary. this is more of a ramble than a comprehensive review, so sorry if it’s scatter brained.

i’ve gone back and forth on this movie, mostly because of my changing perspective on film as i learn more about it. but, i won’t even lie to you, my thoughts on this movie are plagued by a lot of personal opinion about what i think spider-man should be. at the…

i was definitely way too mean about this movie when it came out. it’s definitely cute. john m. chu gives the movie some poppy charm with his direction, and there was a lot of nice little edits here and there. he elevated what could’ve been a by the books romcom to something with some actual style. there is some really heavy-handed dialogue, and the plot is a little conventional, but there’s also some interesting familial drama that i definitely related…

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

keanu is still fantastic, i love him. halle berry is also a really awesome addition, and seeing the guys from the raid was really cool. i do feel like with this one the story definitely left a little more to be desired though. chapter one and two seem to have a far better balance between the action and story. regardless, everything else is top notch. the cinematography is beautiful, the action choreography is creative as hell, and a more building…

    The Truman Show

a masterpiece. it’s been a long time since i first saw this movie.  i definitely was way too young, but i can see why so many people
love this movie. there is so much to love. jim carrey is incredible. i really just love everything about this.

  • Avengers: Infinity War

    Avengers: Infinity War

this shit still slaps. definitely not as emotionally resonant as endgame, but it’s far more cohesive and focused. however, both are fantastic and work as great companion pieces. we already know the heroes so we get to know thanos on a more personal level in this one, and it works really well. idk if it’s a five but it’s pretty close to one, and for what this movie and endgame are, they’re pretty damn perfect.

  • Christopher Robin

    Christopher Robin

holy shit i started tearing up in the first 15 minutes. the real world stuff is a little generic and contrived but all the time spent in the hundred acre woods with these little stuffed animals is too good. also this movie is so pretty to look at. the cinematography is gorgeous, and all of the stuffed toys feel so tangible. it might not be the most memorable of movies, but the weirdly melancholic optimism the movie has is something i very much needed right now. it ain’t perfect, but it did really strike a chord with me.
