A surprisingly enjoyable and psychologically tormenting rollercoaster that was unrelentless and continually violent. It was promoted as a continuation of the first film, with similar style and all. But I would categorize it as a film that genuinely scares through the analysis of each character’s psyche and the complex fears each character faces. If it weren’t for the unnecessary cheesiness and lazy flashbacks and the strange ending, it would be way higher rated for me. But it’s light years better than the first film.
Whenever I watch this, so much nostalgia comes sweeping back. I overwhelmingly experience joy, pain, longing, a sense of adventure, and so many other emotions at the same time. Maybe it’s not the film itself but it’s the emotions associated with this film that brings so much meaning to this film which explains my high score. The soundtrack in this film is impeccable and it’s one of the only American children’s animation films that I believe deserves a spot in film history. Good stuff.
