Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

I have so much to write so buckle up. The size of my review meets the size of this film.

Y’all remember how big this movie was? Or was it just 12 year old me? It is big though. In every sense of the word. The massive sets, the apocalyptic battles, the expansive cast list, and the massive scope of the story... the budget too probably. Yeah, it had all the opportunity and goodwill to become the greatest third installment…

  • Yesterday

The Beatles are my favorite band of all time and because of that... I may have been overhyped about this movie but I found it to be disappointingly adequate.

I think this movie could have been so much more. The story is just engaging enough to pass the time but ultimately offers little else than the narrative you know about a guy that gets big in the music business.

The film uses the Beatles and their music more like a…

    Annabelle Comes Home

Quite simply the most boring and consequently the worst film I’ve seen all year. I could not wait to get out of the theatre and would have likely walked out if I had gone alone.

It wasn’t good enough to entertain or bad enough to dislike.

The lone star comes entirely from Mckenna Grace’s acting.

    Save yourself the time.

    Reign of Fire

All I read was the premise and cast list and I was in. If that didn’t get you interested then there’s not much this review will do for you.

The film feels like a time capsule in every sense of the word: from the actors to the cgi to the credits music.

It was a fun time and it never drags. The script could have used some work though.

“This movie just won’t stop.” - my gf

This film is a blast from start to finish. With impressive visuals and clever employment of Aristotelian poetics, this creature feature is exactly what one wants in a summer flick. A packed theatre definitely helps too!

Don’t let the action and suspense fool you though, this is a legitimately well-crafted film with engaging lead performances.

More movies should be 87 minutes.

    Another prerequisite

This is my favorite Tarantino movie. They’re all amazing but there is something about this one that reaches the darkest corners of my psyche.

This time around I sat back and enjoyed just how nuanced DiCaprio’s performance is as Candie. He is just so uneducated/uncultured and acts like he thinks how educated and cultured people act. It’s even better than Myrtle at the apartment from Gatsby

When his slave opens the door at night and says bonjour and Waltz’s character responds with bonsoir, I died.
