    High Life

Well, I think I found the best film of 2019. It’s hard to write down my thoughts about this and it all make sense, but forgive me.

Fear & anxiety of the unknown and of ourselves. A lost in translation of lust and love. The crippling of an enslaved system followed by a riposte of anger, confusion, and brutality. Breaking the loophole into new discovery all in while of setting yourself free. A dreamscape with nightmares acting as its fuel. High…

This film successfully made and ruined my week. Climax is an anxiety driven nightmare that not only fucked me up, but put me into a bad place mentally hours after the film and even as I’m writing this. Haneke knows how to be so unsubtle in the most subtle way. Did that make any sense lmao? Well, for me it did. Holy heck this film is brutal.. and let me add, depressing, and sinister. I don’t know if there is someone who captures isolation as good as Haneke.

Velvet Buzzsaw is like a Black Mirror episode that looks like a CW film that premieres on the SYFY channel.. it’s simply not good. A heavy handed message, terrible dialogue, and just intentionally funny-bad scenes. I’m not exactly disappointed, because I expected as much.
