    Midsommar

    ★★★½

Beautifully made, surprisingly gory, surprisingly funny, but I think there's less here than meets the eye.
Pugh is fantastic and holds the whole thing together, and Aster shows great control over the visuals. But what's it really about? Is it just an attempt to freak the audience out, without actually saying anything? If so then it really didn't need to be 140 minutes long.

    Some Like It Hot

    ★★★★

First saw this on TV a long time ago, but this viewing was of the 4k remaster in a local cinema with my 9yo.

    Possum

    ★★★

Certainly knows how to create an atmosphere of dread and filth and misery. Also clever in the way it withholds information and resists the temptation to over-explain.
But it's also a bit thin and repetitive, and would probably have worked better as a short.
