Grew a great deal in my esteem this time around. There’s a lot of little details that make this a much richer film than even I thought and I still liked it the first time. It did cross my mind this time that maybe Margot Robbie could have narrated instead of Kurt Russel. The fact that he’s doing it feels superfluous and I think if Margot did the narration it could potentially sidestep the whole Sharon has no lines controversy (which is a dumb critique made by dumb people) and made that narration a little more pointed.
Ari Aster has style and makes all the right moves that make the cinephiles go wild but I don’t think the shots ever really mean anything or amount to much. I do kind of enjoy the style and it can be fun and engrossing in the moment but leaves a bad taste in my mouth after.
