17/31: bonus babs
I have always enjoyed this movie, but I think the older I get, the more I appreciate it. I remember watching it when it first came out and being very excited about it beforehand. The horror rags I read from covered it extensively and I even remember an article in one of them on Jessica Dollarhide and how she was going to be the next big thing and that never happened, but still I remember!
Surprisingly dark for a Stuart Gordon film, this has some gnarly effects and really intense sequences. The castle location is beautiful. It’s really impossible not to love a film where Jeffrey Combs and Babs Crampton play a couple, right?
The titular character design is pretty awesome although I kept wondering why he’s skin and bones everywhere and then has this weird flat ass but then these are the kinds of things I notice and I’m certainly not going to apologize for it even if I did know what’s wrong with me.
