The Chronicles of Riddick ★★½

“There's gonna be one speed... mine”

Pitch Black saw Vin Diesel balancing on the verge of overacting, but The Chronicles of Riddick sees him going over to become truly silly, yet oddly enjoyable in his stiff performance. With a much more epic and large-spanning story than its predecessor, it feels odd to put Diesel's minimalistic character in the middle of it and despite how incredibly dedicated to the ridiculousness from everyone involved, it's hard to invest in the wild turns of this thin script. I don't think this is a good film, but as the kind of nostalgic, lightweight B-scifi film you'd catch on TV a late night, The Chronicles of Riddick is still kind of enjoyable with all its stylish fighting and extravagant looks.
